Tucked into the north-eastern corner of McLaren Vale, Yangarra Estate Vineyard grows only Rhône varieties, farmed biodynamically, with a philosophy that runs through everything they do.

The brief was to design and develop a new website on Shopify that would elevate the customer experience while strengthening ecommerce capability.

It needed to feel calm, confident and intuitive. A space where customers could take their time, explore the wines, understand the vineyard, and purchase without friction.

At the same time, the platform needed to support a more connected ecommerce ecosystem, including Wine Club functionality, and improved backend operations.

As with the wines themselves, the balance mattered. Nothing excessive. Nothing forced. Just a thoughtful system that works.

We approached the project with restraint.

Working within Shopify, we developed a design system that reflects Yangarra’s existing identity while giving it more room to breathe. Typography, colour and layout were all considered through the lens of clarity and pace, allowing the wines, the vineyard and the stories behind them to come forward naturally.

The experience was designed to:

  • Present the wines with clarity and minimal interference
  • Create a more intuitive path to purchase
  • Better express the single-vineyard story and philosophy
  • Integrate ecommerce and Wine Club functionality more seamlessly
  • Support future marketing and growth

From there, the site was built with performance and longevity in mind.

Customers can now explore with more confidence, whether they’re discovering the estate for the first time or returning for a new release.

Behind the scenes, the shift is also felt. The team now has a platform that brings ecommerce, Wine Club and operations into one connected system, making day-to-day management more efficient while setting the foundation for future growth.

At its core, this was a project grounded in restraint, and an understanding that the strength of Yangarra lies in its clarity, not complexity.

Knowing when to step in, and when to step back, to create something that feels aligned with Yangarra, both in how it looks and how it works.
